Springboard Peace Mural
The Peace Day Mural is located between the peace-line gates in Northumberland Street was designed by Springboard, in consultation with young people. Workshops were held with over 100 young people who discussed the International Day of Peace and debated what peace meant to them both visually and through words. This feedback was brought into the design of the mural.
The central message of the mural depicts the value of peace and affirms the interdependence of the Shankill and Falls communities as they move forward into the future. The mural was unveiled on 21st September 2011 by journalist, actor and Peace Day Ambassador Ivan Little with many of the images sourced from Belfast Exposed archive by our internship team.
