An opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to lead a 12 month, Heritage Lottery Fund supported project, to research, animate and raise public and media awareness of Belfast Exposed's community photography collection

Directing a lively programme of activities, engaging with a variety of different groups - artists, academics, archivists, local historians, community participants - and focused around the new Belfast Exposed archive gallery and seminar space (opening to the public from spring 2010), you will plan and deliver a range of gallery, learning and outreach activities, aimed at widening access and raising awareness of the collection and informing key decisions around future collections management policy. As an advocate and ambassador for the archive, your challenge will be to involve original contributing communities, alongside new communities of interest in curatorial, research and creative learning processes, which bring the archive to life for new publics. You will be responsible for delivering the following key outputs:

  1. An events & exhibition programme with accompanying catalogue for the archive gallery,
  2. A programme of activities which (re) connect the archive to communities of interest
  3. A learning resource pack to support and inform future outreach and engagement practice
  4. A collections management policy and development plan (work on this plan is already in progress)

Salary: £22-24,000 p.a. (pro rata)

Contract Type: Fixed term - 12 months
