We are delighted to launch our new Schools Programme 2014-2015.

Over the last year we have worked closely with teachers, artists, pupils and education professionals to create a new schools programme.

We want to ensure that our programme is not another ‘add on’ activity in the already full school time table but that it is valuable for both teachers and pupils and fully integrated into the curriculum, covering specific subject areas, PDMU modules and ICT skills.

What we Offer:
An interactive and inspiring programme where children can find out about photography and use the medium as a way of learning new skills, making decisions, telling stories and questioning the world around them while fulfilling key areas of the curriculum.

A key part of the programme is the extra teacher support provided through a CPD session and lesson plan templates to ensure the sustainability and continuation of the learning within the school.  At this session the teacher will also discuss with the artist the direction and focus of the programme.

 Programme:

  • CPD Teachers session
  • 4 x 1.5 hr sessions with an artist: 2 sessions at Belfast Exposed and 2 sessions at the school. One of the visits to Belfast Exposed will include an interactive tour of the current exhibition.
  • A Schools Resource Pack for teachers including lesson plan examples and an activity book for the class.
  • Invitations for teachers to take part in educational events.
  • Press and promotional opportunities through exhibitions and events.

What the Teachers say:
“From a curriculum point of view the project was fabulous. It allowed children to take part in a wide range of activities, directing, discussing and positively editing and evaluating their work and cooperating with different groups within the class.” Teacher, Meadowbridge Primary

“The programme gave the children so much confidence and inspired them in what photography can do” Teacher, Sacred Heart Primary School

“The programme is a fantastic resource for teachers, allowing them to cover multiple areas of learning and curriculum through a completely new medium.” Teacher, St Malachy’s Primary
